For new parents

A little library for the questions that keep you up

First days, picky lunches, fever rules, Italian at the table. Read a guide, then ask Lucia — she answers the way she talks at the door.

Today’s parent note

A two-minute goodbye is kinder than a twenty-minute one.

Comes back different each day — worth another visit.

Questions parents ask

Where is My Piccolo Mondo daycare located?

We are a licensed group family day care at 1466 Ohm Ave, Bronx, NY 10465, in the Country Club / Spencer Estates section of the East Bronx. Families also come from Pelham Bay, Throggs Neck, Schuylerville, City Island, Co-op City, Queens (Whitestone, Bayside), New Rochelle, Pelham, Long Island’s North Shore, and southern Connecticut when the weekday drive fits.

How long has My Piccolo Mondo been open?

The daycare has been open for over 20 years.

What ages do you accept?

Children must be at least six weeks old, and we care for them up to five years old — infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Each child follows an age-appropriate routine with play, meals, rest, and outdoor time.

What are your hours?

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We are closed on weekends and major holidays. We take two planned provider vacation weeks each year and give families at least two weeks’ notice.

Are you bilingual?

Yes. My Piccolo Mondo is a bilingual English / Italian program. Children hear both languages in everyday conversation, songs, and routines.

Do you provide meals?

All meals and snacks are provided. We eat together like a family. Tell us about allergies or dietary needs so we can plan around them. Breakfast is at nine.

How many children and adults are there?

The group fluctuates between five and sixteen children. Lucia is there every day with three other people — staffing can shift a little with how many children are in that day.

How do I enroll or check availability?

Call or text (914) 755-2107. That is the fastest path. After you speak with Lucia, come for a tour, then review the parent handbook and complete enrollment forms before the start date.

Do you take families from Queens, New Rochelle, Long Island, or Connecticut?

Yes, when drop-off and pickup fit Monday–Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The licensed home is in Country Club, Bronx — not a second site. Whitestone and Bayside use the bridges; New Rochelle and Pelham use I-95 or Shore Road; Great Neck uses the Throgs Neck Bridge; Greenwich and Stamford only if I-95 is already the morning. Call (914) 755-2107 and we will be honest about the drive.

Is this a home daycare or a large center?

We are a licensed group family day care in a home-like setting — usually five to sixteen children, Lucia plus three other people, and a consistent daily rhythm. It is not a large institutional center.

Do you celebrate birthdays?

Yes. We celebrate the child’s birthday. Parents usually bring cupcakes and we have a birthday party.

Can I bring toys from home?

Please don’t. We have plenty of toys here. Toys from the outside can cause sharing problems.

Who can pick up my child?

Only registered people on the pickup list. If Lucia has not met them, she will ask for photo ID.
