From Long Island
Daycare if you live on Long Island
Long Island child care is its own market. Some Nassau families still look west — a licensed group family home in Country Club, Bronx, with a 7-to-6 day that matches a city job. The house is in New York City. The license is New York State. The drive is yours to prove.
The Throgs Neck Bridge and I-295 are the usual story. Western Nassau (Great Neck, Manhasset, Port Washington, parts of western Suffolk on a heroic morning) can make 7:00 AM drop-off. Eastern Long Island generally cannot, not as a daily habit. Time it on a wet Tuesday, not on a holiday weekend.
Country Club listings on Ohm Avenue keep Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–6:00 PM. My Piccolo Mondo (1466 Ohm Ave, facility 236999) and Maria’s Piccolo Mondo (1601 Ohm Ave, facility 821324) are the two public GFDC examples on this notebook. Google currently lists 5.0 from 10 reviews for My Piccolo Mondo; Maria’s listing did not show a public star count when checked.
Bring the OCFS facility number to the tour. Ask about late pickup, snow days, and who is in the house at 5:45 p.m. A Long Island parent who cannot be in the Bronx in thirty minutes needs a written backup, not a hope.
