OCFS
How to check a New York daycare license
Every legal child care program in New York has a facility number. If you cannot find it in the Office of Children and Family Services database, pause before you pay.
Open the OCFS child care search. Search by borough (Bronx), zip (10465), program name, or facility number. You want a match on name, address, license type, and status. Closed or expired listings come off your list.
The two Country Club examples on this notebook: My Piccolo Mondo Child Care, 1466 Ohm Ave, facility 236999; Maria’s Piccolo Mondo Child Care, 1601 Ohm Ave, facility 821324. Type those numbers yourself. Do not trust a screenshot.
Read the compliance history. Ask to see the current license on the tour. If the number on the wall does not match OCFS, leave. NYC ACS publishes separate early-care guidance for city families, but the license itself is the state’s.
